About Allie Compeau

Children’s author, illustrator, and professional asker of ridiculous questions.

Hi! I’m Allie. I write and illustrate children’s books for curious kids—the kind who ask big questions, love ridiculous answers, and aren’t afraid to laugh at the gross stuff.

My stories range from fart investigations and pirate bathroom problems to raccoon adventures, mysteries, magic, and everything in between.

I've Always Been a Storyteller

I’ve been making up stories for as long as I can remember, but becoming a children’s author wasn’t a straight-line journey.

Before writing books, I served in the U.S. Air Force, earned degrees in applied studies and education, raised a family, homeschooled my kids, and helped run a family business. Through all of it, stories kept finding their way back into my life.

Eventually, I stopped treating writing like something I might do someday and started putting those stories on the page.

The Books I Love to Make

I love books that respect kids’ curiosity without taking themselves too seriously. Sometimes that means asking where pirates go to the bathroom. Sometimes it’s a raccoon searching for pizza, a mysterious night game, or a girl discovering something magical.

If a story makes a kid laugh, wonder, ask another question, or beg to hear it one more time, I’ve done what I came to do.
